Candle Care & Safety
We at Wild Hunt can see you are an adventurer of excellent taste and culture; your patronage is most welcome.
Though we are sure you are masterful in the ways of the candle, we have provided some supplementary wisdom specific to the wood wick candle class.
- Burn your candle until the melt pool extends to the edge of the container always (approx. 2-3 hours). Allowing your candle to achieve a full melt pool will prevent the candle ‘tunneling’ down the centre like Gandalf in the mines of Moria and will fulfill its total burn time potential.
- Prior to each commencement of lighting, keep the wood wick trimmed to no more than 2 - 3mm in height. This is achieved by trimming with scissors, pinching the excess off with fingertips, or with your swift and concise strike with a scimitar. Discard any residue that may have fallen from the wick into the candle prior to lighting.
- In the event the candle begins to soot or smoke like a pipe filled with the finest Old Toby, extinguish the flame and once cool, trim wick a further 1-2mm as required.
- Like a full coin purse, never leave your candle unattended.
- Burn on a steady surface, one that has an adequate heat resistance attribute.
- Burn the candle for no more than 4 hours at a time.
